The Royal Family announced to the Cultural Government Department that they will support the candidacy of the flamenco for its inclusion on the Representative List of the Immaterial Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity of the Unesco. In a letter sent by this institution we are informed that the King Juan Carlos thinks it's "very intersting" and "wishes all the best to this project".

The candidacy of the flamenco is counting with the support of the central government, but also with the autonomous governments of Andalusia, Murcia and Extremadura. All these are important supports. Furthermore more than 6000 individual votes have been obtained during last term and we can now add the support of the La Coruña University, the Mont Marsan Festival, the president of the Andalusian Business Men, Santiago Herreri or Daniel Barenboim among others, but also federations, fundations and associations in connection with flamenco art, the "arte jondo". Sum-total among two millions of Ansalusian support this candidacy.

The dancer and the dean of the greatest dancers from Sevilla, Matilde Cora, is happy for the absolute gratitude that the Spanish flamenco world is showing, because flamenco is, for her, hier whole life.

Matilde Coral assures that since a few years "flamenco has its fully deserved place". This week, the flamenco dancer will be present at the flamenco classes offered by the Pablo de Olavide University (UPO) in Carmona (Sevilla). The dancer also said that flamenco had lucky and bad times but today it is living in the fullness, and it's something marvellous".

Portada 'Coplas del Querer' de Miguel Poveda

Although everyone who received an award at the XIV edition of the Music Awards held last night at the Häagen-Dazs Calderón Theatre in Madrid is fortunate, flamenco artists were even more so. Miguel Poveda’s name was called twice, as the singer from Badalona picked up an award for Best Album and Best Spanish Song Album for his latest work ‘Coplas del Querer.’

The naming Poveda’s recording Best Album regardless of category is an implicit acknowledgement of flamenco and traditional music. On top of receiving these two awards, Poveda’s work was also distinguishd with the Best Arrangement award going to Joan Albert Amargós...
