María Pagés, Rocío Molina, Agujetas o Arcángel, entre los participantes del Festival de Mont de Marsan 2011

The Chief Executive of Culture, Paulino Plata, has presented this Tuesday in Seville the planning of the XXIII edition of the "Arte Flamenco" Mont-de-Marsan Festival, that will be held in this french city, from the 4th to the 9th of july, and in which artists like Israel Galván, Rocío Molina, Agujetas, María Pagés, Milagros Mengíbar, o Arcángel will be participating.

In the act, Plata has been accompanied by the Delegate of Culture of "Conseil Général" of Las Landas, Jean-Louis Pedeuboy, and also by the artistic directors of the Festival, François Boidron and Sandrine Rabassa. The Director has pointed out that thank you to Mont-de-Marsan "the Flamenco gets into you, and this for Andalucía is a very important fact, because we want to spread the horizons of the "jondo"art.

The Festival will held between the 4th and the 9th of july and through its stages will pass the first figures of the purest flamenco. That's why, in the Françoise Miterrand space, with a capacity of 2.500 people, we will be able to see María Pagés with her show "Mirada", made to celebrate the 20 years of the dancer and choreographer from Seville.

La XI Larachí Flamenca se celebrará del 9 al 12 de junio en el Teatro Alameda

The XI Larachi Flamenca, which also has closed dates in Paris and Malaga, will take place from the 9th to the 12th of june in the Teatro Alameda of Sevilla, a change of scenary due to the big success in the past editions that forced the organisation to change the scenary from the "La Peña Torres Macarena", that gave so many nights of success.

Chano Lobato, Fosforito, José Mercé, Merche Esmeralda, Sara Baras, El Pele, Paco de Lucía, Diego El Cigala, Matilde Coral, Vicente Amigo, María Pagés, Pastora Galván, Blanca del Río, Miguel Poveda... the list is interminable. Almost all the names of flamenco, of today and yesterday, passed by the lens of the photojournalist Paco Sanchez (Dos Hermanas 1946), who see now, how his pictures gets movement.

In the framework of the International Festival of Las Minas, that reaches this edition the half century of life, several trains of long way that links up Cartagena city (close to La Union, where the competition is developed) with Valencia and Barcelona will show a selection of 60 pictures, portraits, performances and flamenco atmospheres, under the title “A train of famous artists” that could be contemplated by more than 75.000 travellers during this month, according to Renfe estimations.

Pansequito

The singer José Cortés Jiménez "Pansequito" (La Línea de la Concepción - Cádiz, 1946) has been rewarded with the "Distinción Compás del Cante 2010" award, presented by the Cruzcampo foundation to great figures of the flamenco world, for twenty four years now.The jury, convened today and chaired by Matilde Coral, decided unanimously to granted this award to "Pansequito", "for his long career in singing, a great performer with a deep freshness and a strong personality", according to a press release of this foundation.Besides the jury, also formed by Miguel Clavero, Teresa Peña, Daniel Pineda Novo, Ángel Vela, José Luis Buendía and Emilio Jiménez Díaz, has also rewarded, with a special mention, the Bienal de Arte Flamenco "Ciudad de Sevilla", for his contribution for more than thirty year to the diffusion and promotion of the flamenco.

En medio de un día de polémica en el que Santiago Herrero, presidente de la Confederación de Empresarios de Andalucía (CEA) se ha tenido que retractar de las declaraciones en las que proponía recortes presupuestarios para la Agencia Andaluza del Flamenco y en la que el consejero de Cultura de la Junta de Andalucía, Paulino Plata, ha dejado claro que el presupuesto destinado a esta entidad no se verá mermado por la crisis, la cultura ha sabido obviar los conflictos y el flamenco ha dado un paso al frente con la inauguración de la Cátedra Juanito Valderrama.

Se trata de una coincidencia ya que el acto de inauguración llevaba tiempo programado, pero, de hecho, ha quedado patente que mientras las circunstancias económicas llevan a enredos de réplicas y contrarréplicas, el Flamenco con mayúsculas sigue su camino imparable en el mundo académico donde cuenta cada día con mayor protagonismo al tratarse de una expresión de arte popular y un signo de identidad de la idiosincrasia Andaluza y Española.
