David Leiva, born in Almería, is graduated (Senior Grade music) in Barcelona, in the Conservatori Superior del Liceu, studing pedagogy of classical guitar with Guillem Pérez-Quer and Sergi Vicente and Flamenco guitar with Manuel Granados. He received lessons from Leo Brouwer, Joan Albert Amargos, Gerardo Núñez, Rafael Riqueni, Paco Heredia ...
He is currently a professor in the School of Flamenco Guitar in the Liceu’s Conservatory with her teacher Manuel Granados.
He has edited with the publishing house Carisch “Método de cante y baile flamenco y su acompañamiento Libro+Cd” (Flamenco’s Method, singing, dancing and its accompanying Cd + Book )in four volumes, and this is the first book which collects all flamenco lines melodic sung (cante) and its accompaniment. With the same publisher, has edited the first work with score about Camarón with the name "Camarón guitar tab” which includes transcriptions of several themes by him with the cante melody, guitar accompaniment and the guitar falsetas made by Paco de Lucia, Ramon de Algeciras, Tomatito and Raimundo Amador. With publishing house Periferia Music has composed the piece "Flamenco Suite Book + Cd" divided into three volumes wich collect guitar flamenco concert works.
In the field of musical show he has accompanied great figures from flamenco singing and dancing in peñas and tablaos in Spain. He has play as a guitarist soloist at festivals, concert halls and theaters of Spain and Europe, receiving very good criticism. He has created "David Leiva Group" which combines flamenco traditional (vocals, percussion, guitar and flamenco dance) with Jazz music (bass, sax, flute and violin) and with it has made several national and international tours and programs in radio and TV.
