The comb is made of cellulose acetate. Acetate allows flexibility and deformation without breaking, as it can happen with plastic sometimes.
Its composition gives the comb a special shine and imitates very well mother-of-pearl.
The engravings on the top of the comb are handmade with a tool called 'buril', this process is called 'burilado'.
