Description:
An adaptation of the Romeo and Juliet tragedy to the gypsy environment in the outskirts of Barcelona, in which two families, the Tarantos and the Zorongos, have a deep-felt hatred for each other, although this doesn't stop their children from falling in love with each other. The film was nominated for Hollywood's Oscars, in the best foreign picture category, and it represents the dancer Carmen Amaya's cinematographic farewell, as she died shortly after the film shoot.
