The Ballet Folklórico de Madrid Journeys Along Spain's Coasts in Litus

At over four thousand kilometers in length, the Spanish “LITUS” (coastline) is bathed by two seas and an ocean. As though the water possessed the country’s very culture, the land that it bathes is permeated by its emotion and life.

The Mediterranean Sea, with its warmth and ancestral culture, provides soft and melodious rhythms full of style and charged with symbolism. This journey along the coastline begins along the Mediterranean coast. From Catalonia to Valencia, passing through the Balearic Islands, we can see how the Mediterranean’s soft waves cradle with rhythmic dances that make one float in a calm se of notes and steps.

Upon approaching the Atlantic Ocean, the rhythms become accentuated along the Andalusian coast. That Mediterranean cadence intermingles with the turmoil and joy of the ocean, creating a vivid and colorful staging.

Niño Josele presents his new album in Madrid

The flamenco guitarrist Niño Josele presents his album La española” at Madrid’s Teatro Lara on April 27 at 9:30PM.

In this instrumental record, Niño Josele presents a well balanced combination of flamenco guitar and the Latin music and jazz that have influenced him throughout his musical career.

The album, produced by Fernando Trueba, opens with a version of the song by pianist McCoy Tyner for which it was named. The rest of the songs are the compositions of this musician from Almeria, who also happens to be one of the most important guitarists in the current flamenco scene.

Tickets to the record release concert cost between 24 and 30 euros and can be purchased at www.entradas.com.

Avance de la Programación de Suma Flamenca 2010

Hoy se presentó el avance de programación de la V edición del Festival Flamenco de la Comunidad de Madrid Suma Flamenca, cuya oferta incluye más de 33 espectáculos, que se representarán en una quincena de espacios de la capital y de otros diez ayuntamientos de la región. Todos los aficionados al arte jondo podrán disfrutar del 4 de junio al 2 de julio de la mayor calidad y tonalidades del cante, danza y toque a través de figuras indiscutibles del flamenco.

El festival mantiene la esencia que le ha convertido en una cita ineludible para aficionados y curiosos desde hace cuatro años: acercar a grandes figuras consagradas y jóvenes valores del flamenco hasta escenarios de municipios ubicados por la geografía de toda la Comunidad.
