How to Wear a Spanish Mantilla

Wearing a mantilla —a traditional Spanish lace veil— is one of Spain's most iconic customs. During Holy Week (Semana Santa), women known as manolas dress in black from head to toe, with a lace mantilla draped over a tall comb called a peineta. This tradition dates back to the 18th century and remains a powerful symbol of devotion and elegance in cities across Andalusia, Madrid and beyond.
