The flamenco singer and composer Mayte Martin, accepted and considerated by everyone will present her last work "Al cantar a Manuel" next October 3. at the Girona Auditorium.This new disc is a real event, because it offers a collection of songs based on the poems of the poet and journalist Manuel Alcanta, from Malaga. On this cd Mayte Martin reinvents the poetry singing and in a very honourable way. Her aim was to be the voice of the poet, be his breathing. We are talking about flamenco, about La Niña de los Peines and Pepe Marchena, but also Jacques Brel and Joni Mitchell, because the work of Mayte Martin is incredible..

The "taconeo" of Farruquito will resound next Saturday in the Sabatini Gardens and will close the last week of the flamenco cycle during the Veranos de la Villa 2010. Also present the guitar player Gerardo Nuñez and the singers José Menese, Arcangel and Mayte Martin.


The dancer from Seville, will close the season of this big event in Madrid, with his artistical offer "Puro", accompanied by 14 musicians, and offering a trip through the flamenco palos.


After his show in the Veranos de la Villa, Farruquito will be on stage on September 9. in the Auditorium of La Palma de Mallorca and on September 21. in the Maestranza of Sevilla Theater for the XV. Flamenco Bienal.

The Roman Theatre of Merida will welcome on Sunday 5th of September the concert of Jose Merce in the Merida festival planning, “Mediterráneo interior”. Musical meetings in the theatre which wants to combine culture with the historic and archaeological patrimony.


In the festival, Jose Merce will go up to the stage of the Roman theatre of Merida to present his new work, Ruido. Merce plans to reinforce the presentation in Extremadure of his new disc with a review of his records in an “authentic enclave”, according to a promoter of the event, in the presentation of the concert in Merida.

The flamenco ballet of Eva Yerbabuena opens the Mérida Festival

La 56 edición del Festival de Mérida (Badajoz) abre este viernes su temporada de representaciones con el espectáculo 'Lluvia', del ballet flamenco de Eva Yerbabuena

The 56. edition of the Merida Festival (Badajoz) starts this Friday with its new shows period with the performance of the flamenco ballet of Eva Yerbabuena in "Lluvia" (Rain), substituting "Medea 2", under the thematic of the water.

This show represents the unique way to renew the festival under this thematic, in line with the philosophy of this new edition. The Greek companyof Dimitris Papaioannou has cancelled its show for the opening of the festival, admitted Francisco Suárez, the festival director, during the press conference.

"I chose the water thematic for the festival and I am very lucky that Eva is free this week-end.", confessed Suarez, who has also admitted that the dance show won't offer any Greek-Latin essence.
"I was very stressed out about the possibility to cancel the opening of the festival and I think that I wasn't allowed to do that, I had to find a solution", said Suarez.
