The most pure flamenco comes thanks to José Mercé to the Roman Theatre of Merdia

The Roman Theatre of Merida will welcome on Sunday 5th of September the concert of Jose Merce in the Merida festival planning, “Mediterráneo interior”. Musical meetings in the theatre which wants to combine culture with the historic and archaeological patrimony.

In the festival, Jose Merce will go up to the stage of the Roman theatre of Merida to present his new work, Ruido. Merce plans to reinforce the presentation in Extremadure of his new disc with a review of his records in an “authentic enclave”, according to a promoter of the event, in the presentation of the concert in Merida.

The flamenco ballet of Eva Yerbabuena opens the Mérida Festival

La 56 edición del Festival de Mérida (Badajoz) abre este viernes su temporada de representaciones con el espectáculo 'Lluvia', del ballet flamenco de Eva Yerbabuena

The 56. edition of the Merida Festival (Badajoz) starts this Friday with its new shows period with the performance of the flamenco ballet of Eva Yerbabuena in "Lluvia" (Rain), substituting "Medea 2", under the thematic of the water.

This show represents the unique way to renew the festival under this thematic, in line with the philosophy of this new edition. The Greek companyof Dimitris Papaioannou has cancelled its show for the opening of the festival, admitted Francisco Suárez, the festival director, during the press conference.

"I chose the water thematic for the festival and I am very lucky that Eva is free this week-end.", confessed Suarez, who has also admitted that the dance show won't offer any Greek-Latin essence.
"I was very stressed out about the possibility to cancel the opening of the festival and I think that I wasn't allowed to do that, I had to find a solution", said Suarez.

The choreographer Javier Latorre gave shape to the flamenco spirit through "El duende y el reloj" production

El coreógrafo Javier Latorre dio forma al espíritu del flamenco a través de su montaje 'El duende y el reloj'

The choreographer Javier Latorre gave shape to the flamenco spirit through "El duende y el reloj" production, yesterday night in the Gran Teatro, a work that brings together fiction and reality through the dance, according to the original script of the tale by Philippe Donnier. The time of the show has been delayed, from 22.00 to 23.00, because of the football match of Spain. This is the first production of Latorre for his new company, Requetedanza. The production has been designed in order to understand flamenco easily, using the new technologies and animation.

According ti the title of this production, the "duende", magician (Karen Lugo), and the watch, "el reloj", are the main characters of this show. The first one, the "duende" is the innovator, and the second one is characterized by its immobility, a posture that the magician treis to change all along the show, showing the watch the different "palos" of the flamenco. Latorre also made appear other historical characters such as Léonard de Vinci, René Descartes, Albert Einstein or Salvador Dali; he used the Soft Watches like as an excuse to explain the slowing down of the fandangos ryhthm.

The XXX. Guitar Festival starts in Cordoba.

The Guitar Festival of Cordoba, the most important, totally dedicated to this instrument, and celebrating its 30. edition, offers more than 32 concerts and starts tomorrow with the "Misa Flamenca" by Paco Peña, the founder of this festival, born in 1981.The Patio de los Naranjos of the mosque-cathedral of Cordoba will be the stage for the work of Peña, one of the most played flamenco mass in the world and counting with the participation of the singer "El Pele".This will be the first of a lot of concerts, joining the most important names of the guitar, until July 25.
