A flamenco dress (traje de flamenca or vestido de gitana) is the traditional women's outfit worn at Andalusian ferias and festivals across Spain. It features a fitted bodice and a flared skirt with layered ruffles (volantes or faralaes) that create movement when walking and dancing. The most classic colours are red, black and white with polka dots, though each season brings new prints and combinations.
There are several styles depending on the occasion: the canastero dress (fitted to the hip with a very wide ruffled skirt from mid-leg), the street flamenco dress (shorter and more comfortable, ideal for strolling around the fair), and the plain flamenco dress (no pattern, elegant and timeless).
