The Montreal Festival receives the world première of “Flamenco Flamenco” of Saura

The Canadian festival where the filmmaker received several prizes, will project at the end of the month and out of competition the movie. Shot the last autumn in Sevilla, the movie shows the new generation of the Jondo Art.

 

Appreciation and prizes in movie competitions all around the world- from Berlin to Cannes, from New York to San Sebastian- pull the career of Carlos Saura (Huesca 1932). However, it is in the Montreal festival, in Canada, where the author of famous titles of musical cinema as Bodas de sangre or Sevillanas, received a lot of prizes, close to a ten for movies like El amor brujo, Carmen, Pajarico, Goya en Burdeos or El séptimo día for which he received, in the edition of 2004, the prize of the best director, like the Gran Premio Especial de las Amercias in 1995 for the movie Flamenco.

Chano Lobato, Fosforito, José Mercé, Merche Esmeralda, Sara Baras, El Pele, Paco de Lucía, Diego El Cigala, Matilde Coral, Vicente Amigo, María Pagés, Pastora Galván, Blanca del Río, Miguel Poveda... the list is interminable. Almost all the names of flamenco, of today and yesterday, passed by the lens of the photojournalist Paco Sanchez (Dos Hermanas 1946), who see now, how his pictures gets movement.

 

In the framework of the International Festival of Las Minas, that reaches this edition the half century of life, several trains of long way that links up Cartagena city (close to La Union, where the competition is developed) with Valencia and Barcelona will show a selection of 60 pictures, portraits, performances and flamenco atmospheres, under the title “A train of famous artists” that could be contemplated by more than 75.000 travellers during this month, according to Renfe estimations.

 

The pictures- big format, in black and white and colours- composed a trajectory by “legendary figures” that came to the Festival in these 50 years of life. Moreover, there is a review to Paco Sanchez work, Prized of Plastic Arts 2010 of the Cátedra de Flamencología of Jerez, radio professional, linked to the jondo world from 1975.

These are some of the gifts of the authorities from Malaga to the first lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, and her daughter during their visit on the Golden Cost in Spain.

The town council of Malaga, Marbella, will also give to the first lady, Michelle Obama, the work of the French artist Muriel Moreau, who received the National Award for the best Gravure in 2009 with her work "Arbol", and the book "Cronicas de Marbella" gathering the story of the city.

The Roman Theatre of Merida will welcome on Sunday 5th of September the concert of Jose Merce in the Merida festival planning, “Mediterráneo interior”. Musical meetings in the theatre which wants to combine culture with the historic and archaeological patrimony.


In the festival, Jose Merce will go up to the stage of the Roman theatre of Merida to present his new work, Ruido. Merce plans to reinforce the presentation in Extremadure of his new disc with a review of his records in an “authentic enclave”, according to a promoter of the event, in the presentation of the concert in Merida.
