Jose Manuel Gamboa presents this fantastic biography about Sernita de Jerez, one of the fathers of the contemporary flamenco singing.
They are some persons who were born in the right place but maybe out of their time. Sernita de Jerez was born in a pure, authentic territory, when poetry was experiencing hard times. During his adolescence he realized that the situation was turning really bad, times of shotage were awaiting. Among his fellow-countryman, his generation he was an avant-gardist emigrant, claining his flamenco identity, always thinking about a wonderful world and trying to find solutions to the home problems, that was his first objective. Sernita travel all around the wrold singing. With Susana and José, with Antonio el Bailarón... He arrived in Madrid and settled down. He will offer his best performances in Madrid. A real and traditional gipsy and father of a lot of artists. As a master he followed his own road, always loving his country, Andalusia. He was a pioneer, one of the fathers of the contemporary flamenco , even if he had no time to enjoy this situation. José Manuel Gamboa expresses all these feelings along this touching, original and magical work where the feelings, the jokes and the stricness blend together offering a refined reading.
