Rafael Farina will always be remembered as a great artist with an unique style and a powerful voice that remained flamenco until the end and as an artist that, no matter where he sang, was always at the center of attention with his gift of the jondo cante. Farina was clearly flamenco and proved it through his short yet deep fandangos which were pieces of a trully jondo art. He had a beautiful Gypsy voice with an uncommonly strong flamenco flavoer. It is very fortunate that he left behind a large discography, for no matter what he sang he constantly amazed everyone.
With a beautiful and full of flamenco voice, he dedicated himself more to the song than to the cante. This was very unfortunate for he had gifts that could have taken him further to the top.
His song 'Twist del faraón' was perhaps the first Spanish protest song. It was a rebellion sung against Twist, that dreadful genere that was pushing Flamenco off from first place.
