La bailaora María Pagés celebra los 20 años de su compañía en el Maestranza
For the Dance Series at the Maestranza Theater, the dancer María Pagés presents, this Tuesday and Wednesday, her show "Mirada", where  the cinema and radio inspire her choregraphies; with the music of Ruben Lebaniegos, and the voice of the actor Juan Diego, as a guiding principle.Blinding dancer, admired by dance legends such as Mikhail Baryshnikov; her "exciting" creative curiosity leads her to dance truly and respecting the tradition, but she also is a revolutionary figure of flamenco, with amazing musics such as "Casta diva" by Bellini or a waltz by Shostakovich, but she always maintains her natural and her essence.

"Soy lo que bailo" (I am what I dance) says María Pagés about the fluidity of her artistic personnality, constantly varying. National Award if Dance in 2002, Leonide Massine Award (Italy, 2004), also granted with four Giraldillo Awards (company, show, direction and review) during the XIII Bienal of Flamenco Art and National Award of Choreography ADE in 1996. María Pagés started her dance studies at the Adelita Domingo dance studio, in Seville.

Her professional career begn with Antonio Gades and them she was the main dancer of Mario MAya company and Rafael Aguilar and Maria Rosa ballet. The intelligence and maturity of her art, the elegance of her "zapateado" and her hyptonic style of her arms give her a special way to understand flamenco. respecting the tradition but with a modernity touch.

Pagés started with her dance company in 1990 to explore her own creative world, and for her anniversary tour she offers three shows:  "Autorretrato", "Sevilla" and "Flamenco Republic". With this special set-up we close the 2009-2010 season of the Maestranza, with a total of 156'000 spectactors and a 92% of occupancy.
