El Rey D. Juan Carlos, quien aceptó la Presidencia de Honor del Festival en su cincuentenario, recibirá la Medalla de Oro conmemorativa del evento, mientras que la ministra de Cultura, Ángeles González-Sinde, clausurará el Festival.
El Festival Internacional del Cante de Las Minas celebrará sus 'bodas de oro' del 3 al 14 de agosto en La Unión (Murcia) con conciertos del guitarrista Paco de Lucía y el cataor flamenco Enrique Morente, entre otras atracciones. "Vamos a rendir un tributo al pasado, haciendo una apuesta por el futuro", señaló hoy Pedro Alberto Cruz, consejero de Cultura de la Región de Murcia, durante la presentación de la programación del Festival en el mítico 'tablao' del Corral de la Morería, en Madrid.
"Hoy el flamenco es una música del mundo", sentenció Morente, quien también reveló que preparará "algo especial" para su concierto. Ganador del Castillete de Oro en esta 50 edición, el cantaor declaró que recibirá este "gran premio" "con dignidad". "Mi carrera ha tenido diversas épocas y cada una tenía una etiqueta. Hoy todas me gustan, incluso las negativas, que me dieron el coraje para seguir adelante", detalló el artista, que se presentará el 6 de agosto.

Winner of the Gold Castillete in this 50th edition, the singer declared that he will receive this big award with dignity. “My career has got several periods, and each one has a label. Now, I like them all, even the negative ones, which gave me courage enough to go on”, said the artist, who will present himself on the 6 of august.

“THE GREATER FLAMENCO SHOW MADE”
The festival, which presentation will be done by Juan Ramon Lucas, starts with an introduction day on the next 3d of august and will be officially opened the next day with the performance of the winners of 2009. Between the 5th and the 10th of august, The National Ballet of Spain will be presented; Enrique Morente; José Mercé and Israel Galván; Mayte Martín and Manolo Sanlúcar; Miguel Poveda and Paco de Lucía. The flamenco sing, dance, guitar competition semi-finals will take place between the 11 and the 13 of august, and on the 14th of august, we will know the winner of the Big Final, it will be the greatest flamenco show ever made”, according to Francisco Bernabé, the mayor of La Union and the president of the Festival.
“”The Festival exists thanks to men and women who work in the mines”, emphasized Bernabé, who said that there was a record of 143 registered people in the sing, dance, “toque” competition, of six different nationalities (Spain, France, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Japan). The candidates will compete to the trophy “Lampara mienera”, “Bordón Minero', 'El Desplante' and 'El Filón”.
CARLOS SAURA AND CABALLERO BONALD, REWARDED
In addition of the shows, the cultural agenda will count with names like Victorio and Lucchino, Jesús Quintero, Carlos Saura, José Manuel Cabellero Bonald, José Antonio or Luís Chillida, who will receive special prizes during the competition. Cruz said that the event will represent the “greatest view of the different types of flamenco in its variety and diversity”. The general deputy director of Music and dance of INAEM, Antonio Garde, emphasized that the Festival is an “essential” piece to “promote the Sustainable tourism” in the region.
“More you like flamenco, more you respect it. It makes you afraid but in the good sense” concluded Juan Ramon Lucas.
