Los motivos campestres que alcanzan su mayor representación en esta estampa costumbristas, son el tema de una serie de cartones encargados por Carlos III e inacabados por su muerte. El mismo Goya comentó que este trabajo le había supuesto numerosos problemas de composición, cosa nada extraña si observamos la complejidad de acciones, el número de personajes y los distintos planos de paisaje que representó el pintor.

Commentary about the Goya’s painting “'La pradera de San Isidro''. The rural motifs which are represented in this painting were ordered by Charles III and were unfinished for his death. Goya said that this work involved a lot of composition problems; and it’s not surprising because of the complexity of the actions, the characters number and all the different landscape plans which represented the painter.
